David Fremberg, Vocal

David Fremberg was born on the 29th of July 1976 in Lund, Sweden. At the tender age of seven he already owned a guitar, trumpet, drums, harmonica and was taking pianolessons. Supported and encouraged by both his parents, and in particular his father who was a jazzmusician, David found great interest in music as a child.

On Christmas eve 1986 there was one present lying under the tree that changed his life forever, a Kiss album given to him by his mother. Fascinated and speechless after hearing only the first few bars, David had soon decided what he wanted to do with his life. Soon afterwards an electric guitar was purchase and with bleeding fingers the struggle began.

All through the schoolyears there were always music lurking in the mind of young David. At 13 he could be seen preforming around town with his band that he stayed with for many years, playing original material along with old Kiss and Alice Cooper numbers. As time grew, an interest in heavier music developed. Metallica, Type O Negative, and Megadeth amongst others, echoed in his head.

After highschool he got accepted to Malmo Academy of Music where he met fellow bandmate Martin who thought he´d be the right man for the job as lead singer of Andromeda.

Johan Reinholdz, Guitar

Johan Reinholdz was born on the 30th of June 1980. He first picked up the guitar at the age of nine, inspired by his heroes Europe and their guitarplayer Kee Marcello. At the age of eleven he discovered music with a heavier and harder edge, bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Pantera, Slayer and Sepultura etc. Along with friends with similar musical taste, he began playing in local bands during his teens, recording demos and playing gigs.

As time passed by different kinds of music were added to the realm of Johan´s musical interest. The Cure, Yngwie Malmsteen, Sisters of Mercy, Dream Theater, 70´s progressive rock, Enya, Atheist, Marillion, jazz/fusion and classical music all became important sources of musical influence and inspiration.

When playing in Widow, who played heavy/thrash-metal, from ´95 to ´99, Johan also wrote music for various sideprojects, including classical influenced guitarpieces, gothic rock, deathmetal, symphonic music and progressive rock. In ´98 he recorded two demos; Maiden Voyage and Welcome to Forever, which mainly contained heavy progressive rock and lengthy guitarsolo-escapades.

Welcome to Forever attracted the attention of the record label WAR-music. They wanted to release an album in the vein of the heavy, progressive tunes on Welcome to Forever. Johan got to work and during the summer and autumn of ´99 he wrote the songs for Extension of the Wish and came up with the name for the band: Andromeda.

Except for Andromeda Johan also plays in NonExist, together with Johan Liiva and Matte Modin. NonExist has released one album so far; Deus Deceptor (NewHawen). NonExist plays heavy/thrash/deathmetal in a modern way. Johan (Reinholdz) is currently writing new material for their second album.

Johan also creates electronic music for his soloproject Kontinuum, which hasn´t even released a demo so far ...

Martin Hedin, Keyboards

Martin Hedin was born on the 2nd of February 1975. Just two years old he already showed a remarkable interest in music, as he would lie silent for hours while his father played classical records, completely fascinated.

At the age of four he had picked most of the childrens songs and played them on a two octave toy marimba. His parents then gave him a piano, which he played and composed on intensively every day throughout his childhood.

At the age of eleven his mothers pots and bowls finally got relieved by a drumset, and the following year a guitar was given to him. Martin recorded his first rocksongs on a double cassette deck, making overdubs on overdubs, playing all the instruments himself. This system obviously had some drawbacks, so it was soon replaced by a keyboard and a computer.

In highschool Martin formed a band called Illusion, playing almost exclusively his songs. He developed as a composer and has since then been more interested in the writing process than actually playing music. Still enjoying challenges though, he joined a band called Flow, featuring Thomas Lejon on the drums. This band took the term progressive to its extreme, but never made it out of the rehersalroom. At this point Martin was studying at the Academy of Music in Malmö, which is where he met David Fremberg.

Nowadays he is teaching at the Academy.

Martin has been working a few years with composer Kent Olofsson, and is currently producing one of his projects.

Thomas Lejon, Drums

Thomas Lejon was born on the 29th of April 1973. When he was twelve he took over his uncle’s drums and his dad though he might have regretted this later let him play in the basement. Soon he joined a local bluesband, followed by some coverbands and punkbands.

His interest in progressive music started with the discovery of Rush. Amazed and inspired by their music he formed a band called Given Form with two friends. Exploring new grounds they all evolved rapidly as musicians, having a lot of fun. Rehearsing next door was a band called Act, which Thomas used to listen to through the walls.

Nowadays he is a proud member of the band. Over the next few years Thomas played in a project called Flow, led by guitarist John Fritzell, putting his skill to the test with some really mindwrecking stuff. The keyboards were played by Martin Hedin. Both bands eventually broke up and Thomas moved on to some trash/death metal bands Ominous and Embraced. But his progressive heart was never really into it, so when Wez Wenedikter from WAR-music called him up and told about Johan Reinholdz and his Andromeda project he said yes right away. The rest is history.

Fabian Gustavsson, Bass

Fabian Gustavsson was born and raised in October 1979 in a small village called Jämshög in the southern of Sweden. Although he didn´t play an instrument, music as always an intracate part of his life since an early age. He kept on listening to jazz musician Jojje Wadenius children albums all day long.

When it came time to choose an instrument the choise fell on the trumpet, which he kept on with for five years. As he became a teenager he decided to try out the guitar and soon found himself taking lessons from his older brother. But when there was an opening in his brothers rock/blues band for a bassplayer, Fabian finaly found his way home to his four stringed friend.

After going to a music high school in Malmö he decided to study to become a computer engineer. But after one and a half years of studies in the university town of Lund realized that he spent most of his time playing in various bands. Uncertain of where to go Fabian worked as a gymnastics teacher for half a year before he settled on the idea to study music again. Off to Kronoberg music folk high school where Fabian for two years evolved his skills as a bassplayer, mostly playing jazz and funk.

Taking the natural step, Fabian then aplied and got accepted at the Malmö music academy. There he met both Martin and David and auditioned for Andromeda in the early summer of 2003. The personal chemistry clicked for the start and Fabian was impressed by their complex music and strong songs.

Never playing progmetal before, Fabian looks at it as a challange to see if he might be the last piece in the Andromeda puzzle and hope to develope himself as well as the band to new hights.

During his life he has listned and been inspired by many diverse styles such as grunge, funk, jazz, fusion and acidjazz. Favourite bands to be found in his cd collection is Alice in Chains, Incubus, Soundgarden, Pat Matheny Group and Weather Report. And his four string heroes are Leonard Flea, Lars Danielson, Meshell Ndegacello.
