- According to our poll The Best Scandinavian Progressive Metal Album 2008 'Mercy Falls' got 25% of all votes. The same number, as Opeth ‘Watershed’ :-) This is only one poll from many others... But anyway, we can see a lot of exciting reviews on this CD. Are you g lad by your last work? :-)
Yes, the latest album has been a huge success for us so far. We were absolutely not sure at all what to expect as it is perhaps somewhat “un-hip” to do a concept album. It is very easy that turns out cheesy and we were very cautious to find a good balance between the story and a regular SW-album. I feel we did a great job with that!
- So, that was the 3rd Band’s album... It seems your favorite? What about “Waiting in the Wings” and “Become”?
I don’t know if I can produce a fair answer to that. In a sense the latest thing you do is always your best work, probably because it is closest to where you yourself are right now in your life. I think I will leave it to each fan alone to decide which album is the best. I think it is safe to say though, that Mercy Falls is the most complex, thought-through and advanced piece of art we have ever produced. Then it is up to each listener to decide whether or not that is a good thing.
- How Seventh Wonder has been started? Tell me, please, more about the Band’s history and the name. Because you are really ‘Wonder’... :-)
I played together with Johan and Johnny in another band that fell apart. We decided to stay together, I came up with the name and from there we just went for it.
- The line-up of the Band is changeless. You are friendly, yes? :-)
Yes absolutely. We are the best of friends. However, the band didn’t start out as a bunch of friends but was rather created in increments, with one member being added after the other. In that sense we only settled for the best, we didn’t allow people in the band just because we were friends. In fact it was quite the opposite. We found someone who fitted the band and then after a while together, then we came friends.
- What happens in the Seventh Wonder camp right now? What are you doing and what about your plans for this year?
We have some cool gigs lined up, including Sweden Rock Festival and ProgPower Europe among others. We are also looking into a European tour for this upcoming fall but nothing is settled. We are already at work with the sequel to Mercy Falls and I like the new songs so far!
- When we can expect this sequel?
Wow –I really can’t say because I don’t know. We have a long way to go before the album is even written completely. We usually take a long time to create music. Then it’s the matter of recording it, mixing, post production and release so I don’t know... If we could make it by early 2010 I’d be happy. I think it would be unrealistic to hope for 2009.
- I’ve been noticed that Seventh Wonder has got street teams... Is it so? Tell me about your fans, please?
Well, nothing that in any way has been initiated by us but yeah, some fans are certainly more devoted than others. We have fans who go around different forums spreading the word, trying to get us into festivals and such. There is also a fan who has set up a fan-site at MySpace which is really cool.
Of course we are extremely happy about these things and we are really grateful to all fans who help us in this way –really, we love those guys!
