Music is my whole life – it’s everything I live and breathe for. I come out of a musical family and from the early years I travelled and toured with my parents and performed alone at concerts on the organ. At the age of 8 I did my first big concert playing in front of 5000 people. When I was a child my parents discovered that I had a gift of hearing. My dad could be practicing at pieces of music for hours. When he was finished I stepped up to the piano and played the stuff he had been practicing only after a few minutes. I started composing at the age of 11. Mostly I turned the sound off the TV and began composing to the pictures I saw. I loved composing like this. At this age I started getting into raw and extreme metal. I’ve never listened to a lot of records with keyboards. I’ve always been more into heavy music. As a matter of fact I don’t own too many albums with keyboards. It’s quite bizarre – I think most keyboards are really soft and wimpy - especially in metal. I don’t like that shit. I wrote my first classical symphony at the age of 12, and began concentrating more and more about developing my own skills and techniques on the keyboard, synth and piano as well as developing my own style as a songwriter. This included my own notation system. When I was a teenager my love of music was so explicit that my dad had to force me away from my instrument and carry me to school. This happened a lot until he gave up. For more than two years I tried to gather a metal band in Denmark, but without any luck. I decided to try in Sweden instead. At the age of 18 I travelled from one end of Sweden to the other before I finally found the musicians for my band. At the age of 20 I recorded my first album with Twilight. After the release of the debut I suddenly began winning prices as best keyboard player/songwriter. I’m not much of a media person – I prefer living in the dark. Since then I’ve worked as producer and arranger on a number of other productions. I think I’ve been very privileged, working with talented musicians all my life. The Beyond Twilight members mean everything to me. I thank life every day for the existence of music, for the fans supporting us and for people understanding it. Without music there would be nothing.

Since then I’ve been part of the Beyond Twilight line-up. In 1998 I relocated to Stockholm to start studying the baroque lute and the theorbo at the Royal College of Music. I am now a full time freelance musician for the lute, playing all over the globe in different orchestras, as well as doing solo recitals.
ANDERS DEVILLIAN LINDGRÉN - bass

I kept attending the lessons for a couple of years before losing interest in doing the homework. I didn’t care much for playing boring little tunes written on a peace of paper. I found it much more rewarding to write my own songs. Of course they were bad as Hell but hey, I had written them myself. I was 12 years old when I bought my first electric guitar. A year later I made some new friends that were about to start up a band. Just by owning a guitar I got to become a member. Somehow, every rehearsal ended in a fight and it became customary for me to declare my resignation from the band. The next day in school we’d all be friends and talked about our next rehearsal. One day, after my usual parting with the band, I found that the guys had already recruited a new guitar player. They said that if I still wanted to be in the band I could play the bass. I didn’t know anything about playing the bass, but of course I wanted to be in the band so I said yes. In those days, there were many outstanding bands in Falköping (my hometown). One of them was “Leif’s hyvel”. They played a really progressive and complex type of music. They had an extremely good guitarist, called “Exo”(Anders Kragh). He was from another town and was a bit mysterious. I remember the first time I saw him play. He was wearing a gasmask so that no one in the audience could tell who he was. This band was one of the reasons why I began practicing real hard to become a good musician. A couple of years later Anders and I became friends. He was doing studio work for a band in Denmark called “Twilight”. He played the recordings for me and I was blown away. It sounded great. It turned out that the band needed a bass player so I tagged along for an audition. There you have it folks. That’s how I ended up in the band, and that’s why you had to read all this boring crap about my life.

I'm the main man in Invocator, which so far has released 4 albums and have played successful shows with bands like Entombed, Paradise Lost, Sepultura, Edge Of Sanity, Psychotic Waltz, Gorefest, Incubus (now Opprobrium), Dark Angel, etc. etc. My main instrument is guitars and vocals in Invocator but I play the bass + drums as well. Among many other things, I recorded the drums on the death metal album of project-band Maceration, which also featured Dan Swanö on vocals. In the spring of 2004 I was contacted by Beyond Twilight, who asked me to be their new rhythm guitarist – a position I gladly accepted. Since 1990 I’ve worked as engineer/producer and have produced bands like Hatesphere, Mercenary etc. My own favourite producers are Jeff Lynne, Brendan O'Brien, Bob Rock, Zed. My musical inspirations are Ripping Corpse - Dreaming With The Dead, Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness, Dark Angel - Leave Scars, Queensryche - Empire, Slayer - Reign In Blood, Pestilence - Consuming Impulse, Soilwork - Steelbath Suicide, Darkane - Rusted Angel.

It wasn’t until the age of 18 when I became a full time singer in the bands that I’ve played with around Europe and did different album releases with. I mostly had bands together with my brother who is a guitar-player, and we hooked up with M-production who was in contact with Finn and one thing lead to another, so here I am.

Otherwise anything written by John Grisham such "the firm", "pelican brief", "the chamber" Food: Swedish food and asian Drinks: A lot of everything My position in the band is behind the drum-kit, and has been so since 1993. I got a phone-call from Finn who asked me if I was interested in joining the group "Twilight" for a recording-session, and that turned out to be the great album "Eye For And Eye" which I’m still very proud of having been part of. But since then I’ve done lots of other stuff besides the group, such as educating myself in the 1-year program "Percussion Institute of Technology" which took place on Musicians Institute in Hollywood C.A. 1994-95. That is probably the best thing I’ve done for my developing behind the drums and as an experience in life - to live 1½ year in Hollywood when you are used to a much colder climate, which we have here in Sweden. When I came back from U.S. I decided to settle down in Gothenburg where I’m (still) living with my girlfriend, cat and drums. Gothenburg is near enough to my birthplace (Skövde) and to Denmark where I have to go when Beyond Twilight is calling. I began playing "for real" in a band called "Master Massive" 1988. I’ve also been in a group called "Destiny" for a short time in 1998. I hope we are doing gigs close to you (fans) so we can meet up and talk, as I’m very keen on meeting my music friends. My Values in life: Treat people as you wanna be treated yourself … Keep On Rockin' … Cheers … Tomas. |
